The Peninsula Hotels group (Peninsula) has a unique identity among the world’s leading hotels. Established in 1928, we now operate prestigious luxury properties in ten major cities. These include the flagship in Hong Kong, plus Shanghai, Tokyo, Beijing, New York, Chicago, Beverly Hills, Bangkok, Manila, and Paris with Istanbul, London and Yangon under development.

After selecting a new payroll and HR platform, the internal implementation team at Peninsula knew they needed help. “The HCM solution wasn’t just for one property,” explains Eric Sweatt, Director of Finance. “It was for all four of the U.S.-based hotels. We knew we needed some type of project management support because we couldn’t do it on our own.”

The implementation was rather unique and complex. “There were four properties in four different locations, which meant we had to deal with state and local labor laws in four states,” recalls Eric. “Additionally, we had to deal with union and non-union employees. It made sense to us to get some type of project management assistance.”

Peninsula engaged Seequelle roughly a month into the process of implementing a new HCM solution to provide client-side project management and consulting services. The objective was to get help with meeting the implementation deadline at each of the four hotels.

  • Reviewed existing configuration for gaps.
  • Escalated issues and concerns to the vendor implementation team for resolution.
  • Provided on-site testing assistance at one of the hotels, tracked metrics, and managed the testing plan.
  • Provided best practice guidance during testing and the go-live period to proactively address common issues.

Closed Implementation Gaps

Seequelle was instrumental in identifying implementation gaps left open by the vendor implementation team. “Not only were they identifying gaps, but they ended up filling those gaps,” confirms Eric.

Today, Peninsula is satisfied with their new HCM solution. And, they are just as satisfied with Seequelle’s services. When asked whether they would use Seequelle again, both Larry and Eric said that they would. Larry responded, “For sure we’d work with Seequelle again, whether it be a different type of project or something else where we thought we needed some assistance.” Eric added, “They are experts. Based on their logic, their thought processes, and their internal structure, yeah, I’d recommend them 100%.”
